We meet at 1 PM on the third Monday of the month, September through November and January through May, in the Mt. Lebanon Library. You're welcome to join us in Conference Room B. All meetings are free and open to the public.

WELCOME TO THE 2007-2008 SEASON

  • Program Dates

    • September 17:2007 Season Opener Richard Newhouse presented the use of DNA analysis to identify family members and to determine the absence in possible relationships....(See Page 2)

    • October 15: "Using Roots Web" Message boards -- The analog technology to DNA analysis for finding branches on your family tree. (See Page 2)

    • November 12: "Researching through Newspaper Records" We have a new video tracing an actual record search. One week early! (See Page 2)

    • December: No meeting scheduled for the Holidays.

    • January 21, 2008: Report on the new electronic connections to Salt Lake City available at the Family History Library in Greentree. And how to use them.

    • February 18, 2008: Two PBS TV programs from "Ancestry" were presented on our screen describing how your family history may be gleaned from wills and how probate records may be found in county offices.(See Page 2)

    • March 17, 2008: Tom Muldowney from the Mt. Lebanon Library Staff reviewed the Genealogy research resources that are available to all members. The Library's access to both electronic and written resources is constantly improving.

    • April 21, 2008: At a "hands-on" Workshop, attendees used computer websites to "find" relatives. A confidence builder for attendees facing stonewalls.

    • May 19, 2008: One more of the PBS TV series that was so popular at the February meeting. This one will do a complete trace back across the oceans to eastern Europe. There will be time to discuss summer research plans.
